We are looking for an Estimator to join our busy team.

The Position

Working at pre-construction stage, in the preparation of tenders.

The role will involve preparing accurate cost plans and detailed tenders. Working with the Chief Estimator, this role involves all estimating functions, from receipt of tender, to tender submission, including post-tender negotiations.

Maintaining good relationships with suppliers and sub-contractors is essential, as well as forming good relationships with clients and their agents, and understanding their needs. You will be office based, with occasional site visits.

You will also be involved in internal and external workshops designed to improve knowledge and skills and aid career development.

Responsibilities

  • Reviewing tender documents on receipt, and preparing a Project Information Schedule
  • Exploring alternatives to tender designs
  • Identifying suitable sub-contractors and suppliers, and sending them tender enquiry information
  • Identifying the internal bid team where project management input is required
  • Taking off quantities and preparing schedules of work and bills of quantities
  • Setting up the tender analysis and building up rates
  • Preparing tender for submission

Qualifications & Experience

  • 5+ years relevant experience in quantity surveying and/or estimating
  • Experience in taking off quantities and the preparation of Schedules of Works and Bills of Quantities
  • Knowledge of planning and scheduling software (training can be given if required)
  • Knowledge of JCT and NEC contracts
  • Knowledge of building and construction techniques
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
