Rihoy & Son has sponsored two Guernsey College Football Academy players to contribute towards the cost of their travel to off island matches and development opportunities offered by the academy.

Midfielder Charlie Laine, 16, is studying for the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sports, Coaching and Exercise at the College of Further Education. Charlie has already completed his FA Level 1 Coaching qualification.

The GCFA team participates in the British Colleges (category 2) league and therefore plays its home fixtures at the Bristol City Academy ground.

‘The cost of travel is significant and I am therefore extremely grateful,’ said Charlie.

Rihoy & Son has also sponsored striker, Danny Hale, to support his travel costs and funding for development opportunities provided by the academy.

The Rihoy & Son logo will appear on the sponsored players’ travel kit bags and will also accompany each of the student’s profiles on the College Academy website too.

Managing director of Rihoy & Son, Gavin Rihoy, said the company is involved in a wide range of island initiatives with a particular emphasis on sport.

‘Funding from local businesses is key in sport, it allows the youngsters on the island to participate in life changing activities and develop their skills to the best possible standards.’
